Fable - Fable 2 Empty
PostSubject: Fable - Fable 2   Fable - Fable 2 EmptyFri Feb 29, 2008 4:54 pm

Now i don't now if anybody cares but i will inform info on the unpcoming release of fable 2 or give help and advice if you are polaying the original fable.

The game will not be confined to small areas of land well traveling it will be open world like oblivon and have fast travel.

You are able to get a women pregnant and have children, like in real life you must look after and provide for your lil devil spawns.

There are guns in fable 2 but that is basicly because of the fact it has jumped 500 years (i beleive correct me if i'm wrong) in the time of highway men and you cannot have highwaymen without guns.

Fable 2 will be released in "late 2008", Peter Molyneux told Eurogamer readers today in a wide-ranging LiveText interview.
When pressed to be more specific, he added: "Late 2008. Maybe when the leaves have a slight brownish tinge - but are still on the trees, if you see what I mean." Fable 2 is Lionhead's Xbox 360-exclusive follow-up to the critically acclaimed Xbox ARPG Fable.
Molyneux also dropped hints about what else the British developer - now Microsoft-owned - is working on. "We are working on a title now which is kind of a hybrid of Dimitri," he told Eurogamer readers.

PostSubject: Re: Fable - Fable 2   Fable - Fable 2 EmptySat Mar 01, 2008 7:14 am

Peter Molyneux's stated ambition as a designer is to make FABLE 2 a landmark game. In order to achieve this three big design features have been added. The inspiration and rational behind these features will be discussed along with their evolution throughout the development process. The wider context of their impact and influence on the RPG genre with also be examined as the ambition is also to evolve the genre itself. The talk will be supported by retrospective videos as well as live game examples.

lot of emails are being sent around on a daily basis, some about specifics in regards to the game and then there are also some more quirky ones. Several weeks ago we started a new feature on the Fable 2 development blog called "Simon Says..." where we share some of the emails to the whole team with our community!

From our weekly Fable 2 Dev Report, an email that gets sent around internally on a weekly basis where all the departments involved in Fable 2 tell each other what they've been up to. This is directly from the latest email, John McCormack (you saw him in Video Diary 4) had the following to say:

Art Report

The old man winces as he turns a new page in the Book.. he blows of the dust and tries to make out what is read therein..

Morn 733:... nd the ancient order .f the wacom warriors are bei. .. held bac.. .. .runching wheels .f the Faybell Edwa ..d his Engine of eternal darknes.. ... .. ust fight on, too muc.. .t stake! The old man closes the book and waits another circle till he can stomach its contents again...

Believe it or not, Fable 2 is supposed to hit store shelves in 2008. Hard to believe, huh? Well, it certainly seems the game is right on schedule for release this year. Lionhead Studio's lead scripter, Mike West, has updated his blog with an intriguing post, detailing the types of achievements we'll see in Fable 2. While West doesn't talk specifically about the exact achievements in the game, he does reveal a little bit about what we can expect from the game's achievement points. Check out his full blog post right after the jump.

Oh, and be sure to head on over to the blog post itself to read up on what he thinks of some of the achievement points setups in games like Guitar Hero and PGR4.

1. Secret: Nope, we are having no secret achievements, none, nada, zero, zip. We have been told by a reliable source that games with secret achievements actually sell less copies as people like to check them out before a purchase. This is a pity as I (and most on the deb team) wanted the whole achievement system handled in game with ALL of them secret, and that by talking to villagers and finding things around the world, the achievements get revealed. Oh well, it's a pity all you guys are such achievement whores!

2. Story: There have to be a number of achievements set aside for reaching certain points through the story, so these are taken as read.

3. Combat: Obviously combat plays a major part in Fable, and therefore there are a number of achievements based on the player fighting bad men and monsters. However we have tried to steer away from grinds like 'kill 100 Hobbes' or 'Butcher 100 villagers' and focus more rewarding players who use all the aspects of combat. Therefore there will be rewards for doing 'cool stuff' in the 3 realms of combat and overall combat achievements.

4. Simulation: Every player will play the story in Fable 2, but we don't know how many people will go and explore the huge simulation the game has, and that's why we have put a decent number in that cover it. These achievements are planned to encourage the player to do all the fun things in Fable 2 that they might otherwise miss, the mantra is 'getting achievements should be fun' not a grind.

5. Collectors: Of course, some of you out there are completionists and there will be a number of achievements based on collecting various sets of things around the world. This also pushes players to explore all the dark recesses of every dungeon and level, and again, shouldn't be actually repetitive.

6. Stupid: How can we have a Fable game without taking something and making it funny, well, at least we think they are funny. Some of these are a little close to the bone, so MS US might give us a poke and say 'nope you can't have that in'. :-)

7. Morality: Some of us noticed something interesting when playing Mass Effect, as we knew there was an achievement for being or , some of us changed our decisions because we wanted achievement points. This was really bad as it meant the 'hero' was less about our decisions and more about getting points in game. Fortunately, unlike Mass Effect, Fable has an infinite number of and points lying around (as well as the other scale...Hmm, don't know if you know about that yet, think I mentioned it in my feartheboot blog) so hopefully people will play however they want, rather than push to an achievement. Which comes to a question, what do you think? Do you want something outside of the game (usually called a 'meta' game mechanic) influencing the way you play the game, does it spoil it for you? This is one of the categories I am split down the middle of keeping at the moment.

Fable 2 To Ship 30th May?

According to a listing on the Amazon UK product page for Fable 2, the anticipated sequel to Peter Molyneux's original Xbox-exclusive role-playing game, a date has been set for a spring release. The listing shows Fable 2 will hit store shelves on May 30.

Take this with a giant retailer wants preorders grain of salt, but it could make sense. If Gears of War 2 was to hit in fall of 2008 (Read: naw son!) then Fable 2 could be the game that leads into the fourth quarter push much like Crackdown did in 2007. However, Fable 2 is a big franchise for Microsoft and would most likely ship during the busy holiday season. Also, retailers are sort of keen on picking release dates out of hats.

Fable 2 Multiplayer Details to be Announced at GDC?

With GDC just around the corner, the rumour mill is running at full speed. Normally most of these rumours turn out to be nothing more than falsities or let downs, but this one seems to be carrying some weight.

Fable 2 Multiplayer has been long rumoured, but will we finally be seeing some solid information and end to the speculation? Tips from key industry insiders are all indicating that Peter Molyneux will be announcing at next week’s GDC that Fable 2 multiplayer will be coming, and giving us all some juicy information on the matter.

To add further confusion to the rumour soup surrounding the game, a few days ago the Wikipedia
article for Fable 2 was updated with some intriguing information, stating that XBOX Live will allow “a host to invite up to 3 other Fable 2 players into their Albion to train, finish quests and so forth.”

Ripten will be reporting from GDC all next week, so keep your eyes here for all the latest news as it breaks.

You know how in Oblivion you can explore the world freely, with tons of open space? Thats open world. In the first Fable, it wasn't open world, because you were limited to certain areas, and to change areas you had to go through passages and stuff. Well, I heard Fable 2 is gonna be open world like Oblivion. Not sure if its true, though. And I meant the whole game.
